"Having Type 1 diabetes means you have to work hard at life. Only people who have type 1 diabetes know this." - Ricky Manchanda

Ricky Manchanda, residing in northeastern Thailand, shared insights into his 23-year journey with Type 1 Diabetes. With resilience and proactive management, he navigates the challenges of hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia.

Hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia were recurring concerns for Ricky, requiring vigilance and proactive management. "A higher blood glucose can happen if I try to fix my hypoglycaemia too much or if I ate a big dinner," he explained. "Our blood sugar needs to stay in the right level."

Education and preparation were essential components of Ricky's diabetes management strategy. "Joining diabetes camps and having a good foundation about the basics with type 1 diabetes are very helpful," he emphasised.

Ensuring access to insulin and monitoring tools was paramount for Ricky, who stressed the importance of preparedness in managing his health. "At the end of the day, we need to take care of our health," he asserted.

In his dietary choices and lifestyle practices, Ricky prioritised health-conscious decisions, opting for lower carbohydrate meals and intermittent fasting to support his well-being.

Ricky's journey exemplified the resilience and adaptability required to thrive with Type 1 Diabetes. Through proactive management and a supportive network, he embraced life's challenges with determination and optimism.
