"First of all, after finding out about my diagnosis, I was admitted to the hospital. To be honest, I didn't have any strong feelings when I first found out that I was living with Type 1 diabetes, but I was a little depressed knowing that I had to do insulin injections all the time," shares Yati, a resilient young woman from Myanmar.

Yati's journey with Type 1 Diabetes began with a mix of emotions. She initially struggled with the reality of constant injections, but she soon found a way to comfort herself. "This is not a big problem for me. It was more a mental health issue for me, as I said above, I was a little depressed, but I was able to overcome it. Because I learned that if I take care of myself regularly, I can stay healthy. It's not a fatal disease, it's not cancer, brain tumor, etc., so it gave me a lot of relief."

Central to Yati's support network is her mother, who played a crucial role in her diabetes management. "My mother is the key person who supports me. She taught me how to eat and live in my daily life, and she gave me good practical advice."

Regular medical check-ups are a cornerstone of Yati's routine. "I check HbA1C every three months. I go according to the appointments made by the specialists. Since I can go to the clinic regularly, I can maintain good blood sugar control."

Yati emphasizes the importance of a balanced diet and regular eating habits. "If we eat regularly and avoid sugary foods and drinks as much as possible, Type 1 Diabetes will be our friend."

Her message to others living with the condition is clear: "This is not to be discouraged. If you take care of yourself regularly and live your life as you want it to be, I believe that you will live a healthy and happy life even with Type 1 Diabetes. God bless you."

Yati’s story is a testament to the power of support, regular care, and a positive mindset in managing Type 1 Diabetes. Her journey inspires others to embrace their condition and lead fulfilling lives.
