Athirah's Journey: Triumphing Over Type 1 Diabetes

Living with Type 1 diabetes for 35 years has been quite a journey," says Athirah, a devoted mother, wife and medical doctor from Selangor, Malaysia. Despite the challenges, she finds strength in the support she's received and the advancements in medical technology like insulin pumps.

"Managing blood sugar levels is just a part of life," Athirah reflects. "Beyond diabetes, we all have dreams and goals." She emphasizes the importance of seizing opportunities, embracing adventures, and finding balance amidst life's uncertainties.

"Staying positive is what truly keeps me going," Athirah shares. Being in a stress-state can induce hormonal imbalances and influences the blood glucose levels. "Being around positive people and positive environment helps keep my spirits up and it plays a crucial role in maintains my glucose levels steady."

From enjoying her daily coffees to juggling work and motherhood to two energetic kids, Athirah's life is a testament to resilience. "Life is full of ups and downs," she acknowledges, "but faith and setting boundaries help keep me on track."

"Believing in myself is key," Athirah affirms. "Let's tackle each day with courage, resilience, and love—we're the heroes of our own stories!" Her unwavering optimism serves as an inspiration to all facing their own challenges, reminding us that with determination, patience and a positive mindset, we can overcome any obstacle life throws our way.
